Malvern is a daily destination for
thousands of area residents who work in and around the Great Valley
Corporate Center. The corporate center itself is symbol of modern day
Chester County. Ironically, in its shadow sits a symbol of Chester
County's past. Tucked away, well within reach but just out of site,
there is a restaurant and inne that offers a safe haven from the hustle
and bustle of the corporate world and has earned the loyal patronage of
local residents and travelers alike by staying true to its historical
roots and very high standards. The General Warren Inne represents the
benchmark that other establishments measure themselves against because
of their devotion to representing Chester County's past and their
commitment to providing world class hospitality and cuisine. In years
passed the General Warren Inne had earned the reputation as the place to
host a corporate event, private function, casual rehearsal dinner or to
celebrate that special birthday or anniversary. There is a very good
chance that you may have attended a wedding or corporate function there
in the past. If you were like me you probably thought the food and
service were excellent and the setting was captivating. But you couldn't
see yourself just stopping in for a casual bite. Fortunately, the owners
recognized this and embarked on a massive renovation of the entire
property, creating several different dining environments to accommodate
not only corporate and special events but also those local residents who
wanted a casual yet sophisticated environment to enjoy good food and
conversation without the need for a special occasion or even a
reservation. Upon completion of the renovations it did not take long for
word to spread and for many to realize that the new General Warren Inne
is exactly what they were looking for. Now there is one place to stop in
for a cocktail, casual bite, host a corporate or private event and of
course to enjoy one of the regions most talked about formal di
ning experiences.
If we were to look back in time we would see that part of the history of
the General Warren Inne included the opening of the Warren Tavern in
1745. The Tavern served casual fare to travelers and local residents
until it was eventually lost to make way for more formal dining area as
the Inne's reputation for serving fine cuisine spread. As part of the
inn's renovations in 2005, the heritage and history that was the Warren
Tavern was resurrected. A handsome 18 seat bar, hand crafted from
Pennsylvania Maple, is the focal point of this new candlelit and cozy
environment that invites you to settle in and relax. This new tavern has
become the "secret" lunch destination for those who have grown tired of
the loud overcrowded fast food establishments in the Malvern area and
prefer something a bit more civilized while maintaining a price point
that keeps frequent visits within reach. With that in mind the Warren
Tavern offers a delicious two course lunch for only $13.95. If you find
it diffi
cult to be inside any more than you have to on those beautiful spring
and summer afternoons the Tavern's extended dining area known as the
Spring House Terrace, with covered and open air seating, is available
when the weather is favorable.
With all that has changed at the General Warren Inne many people will be
happy to know that some things are very much the same. As always the
American Continental cuisine is inspired by timeless classics while
incorporating modern adaptations and is prepared to the highest
standards without compromise. Dinner guests continue to enjoy
experienced service in candlelit dining rooms, while classic specialties
are prepared table-side in dining rooms that are adorned with period
furniture and historically relevant wall hangings. Each of eight
charming overnight guest suites have remained unchanged and continue to
be a destination for not only those who travel long distances to
experience the historical splendor of Chester County but also for local
residents who want to get away without going away. The General Warren
Inne has long been the place where you can arrive with an overnight bag,
enjoy genuine hospitality and exceptional cuisine and be home the next
afternoon feeling, in some cas
es, more refreshed and relaxed than if you had traveled to a distant
location.
As has been the case for centuries, the General Warren Inne has offered
residents something to be proud of and travelers something to look
forward to. So when you find yourself wishing that you could just get
away, remember that you can. Whether for lunch, dinner or an overnight
retreat, the staff of the General Warren Inne is waiting to serve you.
